Sony Seals Delta Deal
IRVINE — Sony Trans Com said Wednesday that it has won a contract to supply 2,046 Sony Video Walkman units to Delta Airlines for use on the commercial carrier’s B767ER and L1011-500 jets.
The contract is worth “several million dollars,” said Hank Evers, marketing director for the Irvine subsidiary of Sony Corp. of America.
The 4.5-inch liquid crystal display video units provide passengers the option of choosing from an airliner’s library of high-8mm videocassettes for personal viewing.
