Easterly, Mallett to Leave Coaching Jobs at Fullerton
FULLERTON — Joni Easterly has resigned after two seasons as women’s basketball coach at Fullerton College, Athletic Director Sue Beers said Friday.
Vicki Mallett, an assistant at Fullerton, also is expected to step down and will be named as the women’s basketball coach at Saddleback. The move won’t become official until it is endorsed at a March 31 meeting of the Saddleback district board of trustees.
Fullerton was 17-11 this season but had to forfeit 13 victories for use of an ineligible player and didn’t make the playoffs.
Beers also said assistant Jim Germinaro and former head coach Colleen Riley would work to keep the team together and recruit until a full-time coach is hired.
