Poly Stuns Canoga Park in Double Overtime
Ellis Richardson scored 31 points and Poly stunned Canoga Park, 101-94, in double overtime in a Valley Pac-8 Conference game at Canoga Park on Friday.
Poly (11-5, 2-0 in conference) outscored Canoga Park, 15-8, in the second overtime.
Carloes Harper scored 40 points, but was one of five starters to foul out for Canoga Park (9-8, 1-1), ranked sixth in the region by The Times. David Redmond had 17 points before fouling out in the fourth quarter.
Trailing, 72-70, Richardson tipped in a shot at the buzzer to send the game into overtime.
With Canoga Park ahead, 86-83, and three seconds left in the first overtime, Poly’s Pat Farzaneh made a three-point basket to extend the game.
Cleveland 61, San Fernando 49--Donald Holt had 16 points, 10 rebounds and six assists for the Cavaliers (14-3, 2-0) in a Northwest Valley Conference game at Cleveland.
Simi Valley 94, Camarillo 70--Freshmen Branduinn Fullove scored 27 points and Brett Michel scored 24 for Simi Valley (15-1, 5-1) in a Marmonte League game at Camarillo.
Sophomore center Rafael Berumen added 26 points.
Mariano It scored 30 points for Camarillo (8-8, 1-5).
Thousand Oaks 70, Agoura 66--Brian Freeth scored 11 of his 17 points in the second half and Joe Ricco had 13 of his 15 points in the final two quarters for Thousand Oaks (10-7, 3-3) in a Marmonte League game.
Marcus Helfman had 21 points and nine rebounds for Agoura (7-7, 4-2).
Newbury Park 67, Westlake 59--Daniel Bobik scored 17 points, Robert Congelliere added 16 and Luther Staine had 15 for the Panthers (10-7, 4-2) in a Marmonte League game.
Saugus 51, Burbank 45--Major Sherard made seven of 10 three-point baskets, finishing with 31 points for the Centurions (7-10, 2-1) in a Foothill League game at Saugus.
Juni Williams scored 16 points for Burbank.
Burroughs 76, Canyon 73--Steve Eernisse had 38 points and 16 rebounds for host Canyon (8-8, 0-3) in a Foothill League game.
Juan Zavala had 27 points for the Indians (9-9, 2-1), J.K. Scott added 20 and Jeremy Cartee had 15.
Van Nuys 70, North Hollywood 69--Jorge Gurrola made a three-foot shot with eight seconds to play for host Van Nuys (6-8, 1-1) in a Valley Pac-8 Conference game.
Gurrola, a senior center, scored 29 points.
Sylmar 56, Grant 48--Robert Valentine had 18 points and 10 rebounds for the Spartans (8-7, 2-0) in a Valley Pac-8 Conference game at Sylmar.
Monroe 73, Reseda 52--John Ennis scored 21 points and teammate Mark Cumbiss had 16 points and 10 rebounds for Monroe (4-11, 1-1) in a Valley Pac-8 Conference game.
Crescenta Valley 72, Arcadia 38--Andrius Ragauskas made seven of 11 three-point shots and scored 23 points, and Alex Tima had 16 points and 12 rebounds for host Crescenta Valley (11-7, 2-1) in a Pacific League game.
Buena 65, Hueneme 54--The Bulldogs (10-7, 3-3) led, 40-24, at halftime and held on in a Channel League game at Hueneme.
Ryan Fay had 13 points and Ian Boys had 10 points and nine rebounds.
Paul McCrae scored 16 points for Hueneme (3-13, 0-6).
Moorpark 71, Calabasas 57--Keith Donahue scored 20 points and Kalani Ferreria added 18 for the Musketeers (14-6, 2-1) in a Frontier League game at Calabasas (10-8, 1-2).
Bobby Baumann scored 17 points, and Ryan Coleman had 15 points and eight assists for the Coyotes.
L.A. Baptist 86, Kilpatrick 69--David Plaxen scored 29 points for host L.A. Baptist (15-1, 4-0) in an Alpha League game.
Charles Blakey scored 29 points for Kilpatrick (3-6, 1-2).
Santa Paula 73, Malibu 60--Josh Jimenez scored 32 points for the Cardinals (10-6, 2-1) in a Frontier League game at Santa Paula.
Notre Dame 64, Crespi 55--Jorge Pedre had 28 points and 12 steals for Notre Dame (12-8, 2-3) in a Mission League game at Notre Dame.
