Robinson Will Not Fight Suspension
Clifford Robinson of the Portland Trail Blazers said he won’t appeal his one-game suspension, even though he continues to dispute reports that he swore at Coach P.J. Carlesimo.
Several reporters seated courtside said Robinson, when removed in the third quarter of last Wednesday’s 85-81 loss to Miami, looked at Carlesimo, asked why he had been taken out of the game, then called the coach “stupid,” followed by a profanity.
“How do I plan to deal with it? Not play Tuesday [against Detroit]. That’s the bottom line,” Robinson said. “For me to try to keep more attention on this than needs to be--I’m not going to do that. I’m going to accept the suspension and deal with it.”
It will cost Robinson about $36,000 in salary.

The Phoenix Suns placed guard Tony Dumas on the NBA’s injured list and activated rookie forward Ben Davis.
Dumas, acquired in a Dec. 26 trade with Dallas, left Friday night’s home game against Charlotte because of a bruised right knee.
Davis, a second-round draft pick from Arizona, had been on the injured list since Nov. 26 because of ligament damage in his right pinky.
Cedric Ceballos and Rumeal Robinson, acquired Friday in a trade with the Lakers, accompanied the team to Dallas and will be available to play tonight against the Mavericks.
