Santa Paula Pushes Hart, Pulls Off Overtime Upset
Josh Jimenez scored 22 points and Santa Paula High upset Hart, 63-58, in overtime Tuesday night at Hart.
Jeff Whitmore scored 24 points and Mark Halverson had 17 rebounds and seven points for the Indians (11-5).
Anthony Hernandez scored 18 points for Santa Paula (8-5).
Antelope Valley 76, Ridgecrest Burroughs 54--Senior guard Ziaire Williams scored 21 points and senior forward Le’Tre Kelly had 16 points and 13 rebounds for the Antelopes at Antelope Valley.
Burroughs made three three-point baskets to take a 9-0 lead, but Antelope Valley (12-5)--ranked third in the region by The Times--went on a 15-2 run and never looked back.
Nordhoff 63, St. Bonaventure 58--Kristian Christensen and Chris Christoffersen each scored 19 points for the Rangers in a nonleague game at St. Bonaventure.
Jake DeGennaro had 20 points for the Seraphs (6-7), including five three-pointers.
Valencia 62, Littlerock 60--Jason Richardson made two free throws with five seconds left for the Vikings at Valencia.
Fabian Leon had 16 points and 15 rebounds for Valencia, and Jerrohn Jordan added 13 points, 10 rebounds and three blocked shots.
The Vikings led, 44-34, at the end of three quarters, but Isaiah Raheem scored 10 of his 20 points in the final quarter to get the Lobos (2-13) back into the game.
L.A. Baptist 86, Village Christian 34--Jermaine Sweet scored 16 points and David Plaxen had 15 for the Knights (12-1) in an Alpha League opener at L.A. Baptist.
Village Christian (4-8) trailed, 49-16, at halftime.
Crescenta Valley 67, Highland 61--Derek Dawson had 19 points and 14 rebounds for the Falcons (9-6) at Crescenta Valley.
Alex Tima added 16 points and 15 rebounds for Crescenta Valley, while Danny Morris contributed 13 points and six assists.
Santa Clara 42, Bishop Diego 35--The Saints (7-4) were held to nine points in the first half but recovered in a nonleague game at Bishop Diego.
Santa Clara scored only two points in the first quarter as it had trouble adjusting to the Cardinals’ zone defense.
Peter Lee had 16 points for the Saints.
Canyon 63, Quartz Hill 57--Steve Eernisse scored 34 points and had 12 rebounds for the Cowboys (8-5) in a nonleague game at Quartz Hill.
Canyon hit 21 of 29 free-throws. Chris Hebert had 18 points for Quartz Hill.
Glendale 65, Keppel 43--Aremen Kazaryan and Tomik Iranosian each scored 16 points for the Dynamiters (7-8) in a nonleague game.
