Laker update--They take a nine-game Forum winning streak into the opener of a seven-game home stand, the longest of the season. Among other things, it includes a pair of three-day breaks (welcome after they have just played four games in five nights in four cities) chances to avenge losses to the Hornets and Portland Trail Blazers and marquee matchups with the Miami Heat and Detroit Pistons. The Lakers’ next road game isn’t until Jan. 26.

Hornet update--In what figures to be an emotional night for him, Vlade Divac plays at the Forum for the first time as a visitor. The first game against the Lakers, Nov. 6 in Charlotte, was stressful enough for the sensitive 7-footer that he pressed against his team of the previous seven seasons and logged zero points and four rebounds in 17 minutes. Divac comes to Inglewood on a roll, having averaged 15 points and 12.8 rebounds the last four games. That has pushed his season numbers to 11.5 and 9.1, respectively, both comparable to his career marks.
