At Least 7 Die in Algiers Bomb Blast
From Times Wire Reports
A car bomb exploded in an Algiers shopping district, damaging stores and shattering windows in a 500-yard radius. There were conflicting reports on casualties: One indicated that seven were killed and 48 wounded, another that 13 died and 100 were wounded. Two men among the dead were seen leaving the vehicle just before it exploded, although it was not clear whether they had planned a suicide mission or the bomb went off before they could get away. There was no immediate claim of responsibility.
