Cities Seek Coaches, Officials for Hockey
Coaches and game officials are being sought for city-sponsored youth roller hockey leagues, said Don Fromknecht, community services supervisor.
Fromknecht said persons volunteering to coach would be taught at a six-hour coaching clinic and would be certified by the National Youth Sports Coaches Assn. Hockey league games will be played at 6 p.m. on Mondays, Tuesdays and Thursdays.
There also may be some Saturday morning games.
Separate leagues are being formed for children born in 1983-84, 1985-86 and 1987-88.
Games will be played at Arnold/Cypress Park in Cypress. Cypress and La Palma are jointly sponsoring the hockey leagues.
Fromknecht said the hockey leagues also need game officials. Volunteers will be paid $10 per game. He said prospective officials should be certified by either USA Hockey In-Line or the National In-Line Hockey Assn.
Volunteers for both coaching and game officiating should contact La Palma’s Recreation and Community Services Office at (714) 522-6740.
