More Gas Hikes
Other major California refiners followed Chevron’s lead Tuesday, raising wholesale gasoline prices and launching a new round of price hikes at the pump for Southern Californians. Unocal and Shell led with a 5.8-cent-per-gallon price boost, more than the 5.6-cent-per-gallon increase passed on Monday by Chevron to its Southland dealers.
Texaco and refiners Ultramar and Tosco also raised prices by smaller amounts Tuesday, although some had begun nudging wholesale prices up late last week. And Chevron, which on Monday said only Southern California, Las Vegas and Arizona dealers were affected by its price hike, said Tuesday that it was raising wholesale prices statewide.
