Dialing for a Dietitian

Have a question about how to cook the holiday turkey or cut your fat intake? Want to know how not to gain weight from now until New Year’s Day?

This month, you can get a personalized telephone consultation with a registered dietitian by calling the American Dietetic Assn.’s new 900 service at (900) 225-5267.

Dietitians are available 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. (CST), Monday through Friday. During December, the charge is 95 cents a minute. After December, you’ll have to talk faster--the charge will be $1.95 for the first minute and 95 cents for each additional minute.

The ADA also operates a toll-free nutrition hotline ([800] 366-1655) with recorded information. Messages scheduled for December include “Learn About Legumes and Soybeans,” “Connect With ADA on the World Wide Web” and “Healthy Holiday Eating.”
