Artists Needed for ‘Shelters’ Project
City officials are recruiting artists to create works for a program known as Art Shelters.
The campaign is part of the city’s Art in Public Places campaign. Each participating artist will be commissioned to create two murals or paintings, each 3 by 5 feet, in a colorful graphic style.
The panels, for which the artist will receive a $700 stipend, will be displayed at bus shelters across the city. There are 11 Art Shelters in Brea now, with another 10 to be completed in 1997. A different artist will be selected for each additional shelter.
To apply, an artist may submit slides of previous work, conceptual sketches and a short application form by Jan. 10. The selection of Art Shelter artists will be made in February.
