GARDEN GROVE : Nicholas Chevrolet Moving to Auto Mall
A local Chevrolet dealer will be moving to the city’s auto mall along the Garden Grove Freeway under an agreement approved this week by the City Council.
Joe Voltarel, owner of Nicholas Chevrolet, agreed to pay $958,320 for a 4.12-acre site at Brookhurst Street and Trask Avenue. His business, now operating on Garden Grove Boulevard, will reopen at the new location within nine months.
The city, which has purchased the property in phases over the past five years, will demolish houses and a service station that now occupy the land and complete an environmental cleanup.
Mayor Bruce A. Broadwater said the dealership is expected to generate $300,000 a year in tax revenue for the city.
“When the Ford dealership moved from Garden Grove Boulevard to the freeway site, it doubled its sales,†Broadwater said.
