UCI Clinic Scandal

* I was appalled by the treatment given Debra Krahel, Marilyn Killane and Carol Chatham following their expose of medical high jinks at UC Irvine. These courageous women should be awarded a medal. Instead, they were intimidated, harassed, terminated, sworn to secrecy, confidentially paid off and made ineligibile to pursue their UCI careers.

The real villains in this tragic play are the sanctimonious docs who appear to have contrived a medical “shell game” with other people’s property and skimmed considerable undisclosed profits in the doing.

The entire episode is a disgrace. However, considering that the chancellor didn’t know the clinic existed until seven months following her investiture, we’re lucky it only took three years to uncover the scam.
