Bankruptcy Judge OKs Columbia Gas Plan: The court approval of a $1.2-billion settlement plan for Columbia Gas System Inc. paves the way for one of the nation’s largest natural gas companies to emerge from its nearly 4-year-old bankruptcy. Under the plan, approved by U.S. Bankruptcy Court Judge Helen Balick, Columbia Gas System and its pipeline subsidiary agreed to pay $1.2 billion to settle $1.6 billion in claims by natural gas producers.
