Dorsey, Marshall Players Advance to Quarterfinals

Defending singles champion Robert Williams of Dorsey and Noah Newman of Marshall advanced to the quarterfinals of the City Section individual tennis championships Friday at Mountaingate Tennis Club.

Williams, the No. 2 seed, defeated Ian Dautyan of University, 6-0, 7-5, in the second round. Newman beat Mike Ressett of North Hollywood, 6-1, 6-1.

Williams will play Andy Roland of Hollywood Tuesday while Newman will meet Anthony Gabrille of Birmingham.

In doubles competition, Sebastian Albelais and Mike Gasparian of Marshall defeated Michael Chung and Joe Nehme of Kennedy, 6-1, 5-7, 7-5, in the second round. They will play Jon Singer and Adam Pennella of Palisades.
