HIGH SCHOOL FOOTBALL ROUNDUP : Brache Hits 59-Yard Field Goal to Propel Village Christian, 24-7
Ignacio Brache’s 59-yard field goal ignited Village Christian to a 24-7 victory over Western Christian in an Alpha League game at Kennedy High on Saturday.
Brache, whose kick came on the opening drive, has made 12 of 19 attempts this season, including eight from 40 yards or more. Six of his misses have been from 56 yards or longer.
After holding the Lancers (2-6, 0-3) to three plays and a punt, Village Christian took a 9-0 lead by marching 58 yards, capped by Chris Coleman’s one-yard run.
Aaron Funk’s first of two touchdown runs came on the Crusaders’ next possession when he scored from one yard.
Aaron Funk (15 carries, 70 yards) replaced his older brother Jacob (12 carries, 59 yards), who was sidelined with ankle injury during the drive.
