HYDE PARK : Cartoonist to Host Halloween Event
Comic book artist David G. Brown will host an afternoon of Halloween activities for children at the Hyde Park Public Library on Monday.
An artist and cartoonist who created the comic book series “L.A. Phoenix” in the wake of the 1992 riots, Brown will teach participants how to decorate trick-or-treat bags and will demonstrate how to draw monsters.
Brown, whose series features a super-hero who literally rose from the ashes of burned buildings to stop crime and urge people to live together harmoniously, teaches a comic art workshop at Watts Tower Arts Center.
The free event will be at the library, 6527 Crenshaw Blvd., from 4 to 6 p.m. Candy and other treats will be distributed.
Information: (213) 750-7241.
