Allegre to Attend Arizona on a Tennis Scholarship

Monique Allegre of Camarillo High has accepted a tennis scholarship to Arizona, where she expects to play No. 4 singles and No. 2 doubles as a freshman.

Allegre is 10th in the Southern California Tennis Assn. seedings in the 18-and-under division. She reached the round of 16 in doubles in the United States Tennis Assn. National Championships in August.

Football

Senior tackle Peter Forlano of Notre Dame High, who underwent emergency brain surgery two weeks ago, was released from St. Joseph Medical Center in Burbank.

Doctors concluded Forlano was stricken by a bacterial sinus infection that caused blurred vision, numbness of the right arm and loss of speech. Forlano said he has lost 30 pounds since he was hospitalized Oct. 7.

“I’m going to try to (play in) the playoffs,” Forlano said. “Both doctors said I could play again when I get my weight back up.”

Rashod Rose, Rio Mesa High’s leading rusher with 865 yards, will miss tonight’s game against San Marcos because of a sore ankle.

The earthquake-damaged football stadium at College of the Canyons should be ready for use by Oct. 31, administrators at Hart and Saugus have learned.

“Everything is on schedule--there’s nothing to believe COC won’t be ready,” said Hart Associated Student Body Director Dale Basey, who expects the Indians to play their homecoming game against Burroughs Nov. 4 and a probable Foothill League championship game against Saugus at Canyons on Nov. 11.

Chaminade High will donate half of the gate receipts from its Nov. 4 football game against St. Francis to Paralysis Project, a charity formed after former Chaminade student Tom Hollenstein was paralyzed in a bicycle accident.
