Stuffed Turkeys Seized in Gun-Smuggling Plot

FT. LAUDERDALE, Fla. — Two Haitians living in South Florida have admitted a scheme to stuff semiautomatic pistols into turkeys and smuggle them into Haiti.
Patrick Louiseau and Florence Toussaint pleaded guilty Monday to federal firearms charges.
Louiseau and Toussaint thawed out frozen turkeys and stuffed two or three .380-caliber pistols into each. Then they froze the turkeys anew, packed them in their luggage and carried 20 guns to Haiti on May 17, authorities said.
