Ex-Los Alamitos Football Player Expelled for Altercation With Coach
A former Los Alamitos football player who was involved in an altercation with an assistant football coach this season has been expelled from school, according to David Hatton, assistant superintendent for the Los Alamitos School District.
The Los Alamitos Unified School District board decided on the expulsion during a hearing Monday.
The player was arrested for assault with intent to do bodily harm, according to Bruce Klemme, a juvenile section detective with the Long Beach Police Department. A hearing is scheduled for Nov. 22 in the Long Beach juvenile court, at which time the youth will be charged and enter a plea.
Los Alamitos assistant coach Steve Scully, who suffered numerous minor injuries after being punched in the face by the player during the Sept. 22 game against Carson, has returned to duty.
