Esperanza 3, Marina 0--Amy Nihipali had 19 kills to lead host Esperanza (4-4, 2-2) to the upset of the eighth-ranked Vikings, 15-0, 15-4, 15-1. Kristy Kierulff added 14 kills for Esperanza. Marina is 7-4, 1-3.
Fountain Valley 3, Los Alamitos 2--Kristin Moro had 21 kills for Fountain Valley (4-4, 2-2), which won, 6-15, 15-7, 15-9, 5-15, 15-10.
In the Orange League:
Brea-Olinda 3, Western 0--Ann-Marie Hatchel had 14 kills to lead the Wildcats (9-3, 3-1) to a 16-14, 15-13, 17-15 victory.
In the Pacific Coast League:
Laguna Beach 3, Laguna Hills 0--Rose Kuhn had 12 kills to lead fourth-ranked Laguna Beach (9-1, 4-0) to a 15-7, 15-4, 15-9 victory. Marissa Treinen had five kills for host Laguna Hills (6-4, 3-1).
In the Sea View League::
Irvine 3, Santa Margarita 2--Lindsay Jones had 26 kills for host Irvine (3-7, 1-3) which won, 15-11, 15-12, 9-15, 12-15, 15-7. Sabrina King had 18 kills for Santa Margarita (3-7, 0-4).
Newport Harbor 3, El Toro 0--Misty May had 12 kills for top-ranked Newport Harbor (8-0, 4-0) which won, 15-4, 15-4, 15-2.
In Empire League girls’ tennis:
El Dorado 15, Kennedy 3--Michelle Weisz swept her sets without losing a game for ninth-ranked El Dorado (12-5, 6-0).
In the Golden West League:
Rosary 16, Santa Ana 2--Michelle Hamilton swept her singles sets without losing a game and Christina Bruttig and Jennifer Turnbull swept their doubles sets for Rosary (8-3, 4-0).
Saddleback 13, Westminster 5--Loan Ly and Tuyen Le improved to 15-0 in league play, sweeping their sets 6-1, 6-0, 6-2, for Saddleback (6-1, 4-1).
In the Pacific Coast League:
Laguna Beach 18, Estancia 0--The top-ranked Artists (14-1, 5-0) remained undefeated in league with the victory and singles players Michelle Bray, Amanda Hastings-Phillips and Lindsay Weiss lost only three games to sweep their nine sets. Estancia is 7-6, 3-2.
Laguna Hills 17, Costa Mesa 1--Melissa Miller swept in singles, 6-1, 6-0, 6-2, for Laguna Hills (6-3, 3-3).
University 13, Aliso Niguel 5--Gillian Kane and Malavika Dore swept their doubles sets for host University (6-4, 4-1).
In the Sea View League:
Corona del Mar 10, Woodbridge 8--Ranee Rhodes and Melissa Allinson rallied from a 2-5 deficit to win, 7-6, in the final and deciding set for the fifth-ranked Sea Kings (9-3, 5-0). Rhodes and Allinson swept their three sets for Corona Del Mar. Sixth-ranked Woodbridge is 3-2 in league.
Santa Margarita 17, Irvine 1--Ashley Jensen swept in singles, 6-1, 6-0, 6-1, for Santa Margarita (8-6, 2-3).
In the South Coast League:
Dana Hills 18, Capistrano Valley 0--The No. 1 doubles team of Michele Johnson and Katie Tierney won their sets for seventh-ranked Dana Hills, 6-1, 6-0, 6-0. Dana Hills is 9-3, 4-0.
Mater Dei 16, Mission Viejo 2--Sarah Jarrett and Melissa Walker swept their doubles sets without losing a game for host Mater Dei (5-6, 2-2).
In the Sunset League:
Los Alamitos 14, Fountain Valley 4--Danielle Brandlin swept in singles, 6-1, 6-1, 6-1, for the second-ranked Griffins (12-1, 5-0).
In Pacific Coast League water polo:
Estancia 9, Laguna Hills 8 (OT)--Chad Bollenbach scored the game-winning goal 1 minute 15 seconds into overtime for host Estancia. Sean Coottu had three goals and Chad Wronka had 15 saves for Laguna Hills (1-3, 1-1).
In the South Coast League:
Mission Viejo 8, Capistrano Valley 6--Russell Rowlands had four goals and Charlie Womak had 10 saves to lead visiting Mission Viejo (8-9, 2-0). Capistrano Valley is 0-2 in league.
