Aided by three consecutive turnovers, Kilpatrick High raced to a 20-point first-quarter lead and upset Montclair Prep, 26-14, Friday night in a nonleague game at Valley College.
The Mounties (3-1), who had five players suspended before the game for hazing a fellow student, committed five turnovers (three fumbles and two interceptions).

Qualls’ 26-yard run opened the scoring, and the Mustangs took a 14-0 lead when senior Cesar Cuevas connected with junior receiver Shawn Reed on an 11-yard pass play. Qualls dashed 17 yards for a touchdown to give Kilpatrick a 20-0 lead, but Montclair Prep’s Ziggy Jackson scored on a one-yard run late in the first quarter.
Teammate Henry Bell then scored from three yards, and the Mounties trailed, 20-14, at halftime.
However, Qualls added his third touchdown, a 24-yard run with less than a minute to play.
