St. Francis 21, St. Monica 19--St. Monica failed on a two-point conversion pass that would have tied the score with one minute to play at St. Francis. Steve Pulley had connected with Jason Jones on a 16-yard pass to pull St. Monica within 21-19.
St. Francis (3-0-1) remained unbeaten against a team that had outscored its first three opponents by a 115-18 margin.
The decisive score came on a 30-yard touchdown pass from Brian Rucker to senior receiver Justin Vandercook with 10 minutes to play. Vandercook finished with six catches for 113 yards, and Karim Mahrous made two catches for 65 yards.
The Golden Knights’ last score capped an 11-play, 72-yard drive after senior lineman Ernesto Lanuza recovered a fumble.
Rucker completed 15 of 22 for 208 yards and two touchdowns and junior Darin Maxwell rushed for 107 yards in 29 carries.
