Hart Goes Back to the Airwaves in 56-14 Victory Over Palmdale

Junior quarterback Steve McKeon completed 18 of 26 passes for a career-high 314 yards and four touchdowns to lead Hart High to a 56-14 rout of Palmdale in a nonleague game Friday at Canyon High.

Hart (4-0) trailed in the first quarter, 14-7, before the Indians scored 49 unanswered points. Palmdale (0-4) took its early lead on a pair of touchdown passes from quarterback Johnny Gillespie to Jamel White.

However, the Indians evened the score on an 11-yard run by junior fullback Ted Iacenda, who rushed for 92 yards and two touchdowns in nine carries.

McKeon followed with scoring passes to J.B. Nelson and Todd Renfro to build a 28-14 halftime lead. Kevin McLaughlin caught a 31-yard scoring pass in the first quarter to tie the score, 7-7.

Hart rolled up 570 yards in offense.

Gillespie completed 10 of 21 passes for 155 yards, but had three passes intercepted. Andrew Swihart returned an interception 19 yards for a score to give Hart a 42-14 lead in the third quarter.
