Senior running back Mike Flores rushed for 150 yards and two touchdowns, pacing Savanna in its 34-7 rout of Buena Park in a nonleague game Friday at Glover Stadium.

Flores had touchdown runs of 62 and 72 yards as the Rebels (4-0) controlled the game clock by giving the ball to their three primary running threats. Eric Shine, Savanna’s 150-pound running back, rushed for 98 yards and two touchdowns on 10 carries and Daven King, another running back, contributed 48 yards and a touchdown.

After forcing Buena Park to punt on its first possession of the first quarter, Savanna took over at its 41 and promptly drove 59 yards on nine plays to take an early lead, 7-0. King set up a three-yard touchdown run by Shine with a 17-yard burst up the middle.

The Coyotes (0-4) moved the ball aggressively on its next possession, thanks to a 44-yard run by quarterback, David Barrios, which placed the ball on the Savanna 27. Three plays and two penalties later, Buena Park was forced to punt, ending its lone solid drive of the game.

Midway through the second quarter, Flores returned a Buena Park punt 24 yards to the Coyotes’ 25. Shine responded with his second touchdown, a 23-yard scramble up the middle to give the Rebels a 14-0 lead and control of the game.
