GM Strike Continues: Bargainers were unable to find a compromise that could end the potentially crippling strike against General Motors Corp. Dave Yettaw, president of United Auto Workers Local 599, said the two sides would meet again today. The strike by 11,500 GM workers at the 123-acre Buick City complex in Flint, Mich., led to the closing of two plants in Lansing, Mich., on Tuesday, the first day of the strike, and threatened to lead to the closings of others. Thousands of workers in other GM plants have been told not to report to work today or Saturday.
