How About This on L.A.’s Freeways?
Cellular phone users in Brazil are being forced to master the art of the sudden pull-over.
That’s because of a law put into effect this month that makes it illegal to talk on a cellular phone while driving or even while halted at a stoplight.
Violators can be fined as much as $25.20, and repeat offenders are subject to the temporary loss of their driver’s licenses.
Orestes Bastos, president of the National Traffic Council, told the Rio de Janeiro newspaper O Globo: “Anyone who wants to answer a cellular phone should pull over to the side of the road.â€
