Bullfrogs Rip Oakland
ANAHEIM — The Bullfrogs closed out the regular season undefeated by beating the Oakland Skates, 13-3, in a Roller Hockey International game Sunday before 11,780 at Anaheim Arena.
The Bullfrogs finish with a 13-0-1 mark. The tie came against the Blades earlier in the season. The Bullfrogs start the playoffs at 7:30 p.m. Tuesday at home against Connecticut Coasters.
The Bullfrogs took control of the game from the outset, scoring the first five goals and eight of the first nine. They led, 5-0, after one quarter and, 8-2, at the half.
Devin Edgerton scored four goals and Victor Gervais and Darren Perkins each had three goals for the Bullfrogs.
Edgerton scored the first goal 45 seconds into the game. Gervais came back about 45 seconds later to put the Bullfrogs ahead, 2-0.
Perkins then got his first goal two minutes 10 seconds into the quarter. Gervais and Edgerton each added goals to close out scoring in the first quarter.
“It was definitely our strongest performance of the season,” Bullfrog Coach Chris McSorley said. “Tonight the team decided that we were going to play our first playoff game tonight.”
McSorley was honored as Coach of the Year by Dennis Murphy, league president.
