Nation IN BRIEF : OREGON : Leather Spray Harms 43 Across 4 States
A poison center reported that two people were hospitalized and 41 others reported suffering shortness of breath and coughing in four states after using a spray substance made to protect leather. One person in Portland and one in Colorado were hospitalized but were in good condition, said Dr. Marty Smilkstein of the Oregon Health Sciences University’s poison center in Portland. Twenty-nine of the people affected were from Oregon, Smilkstein said. Ten were from Colorado, two were from Seattle and two were from San Francisco, he said. All had reported using Wilsons Leather Protector spray.
