Man, 20, Dies in Head-On Car Crash
A 20-year-old Lake View Terrace man was killed Sunday in a head-on collision in San Fernando that investigators said appeared to be “alcohol-related.”
Julio Diaz was pronounced dead at the scene of the accident, which occurred shortly after midnight in the 500 block of Glenoaks Boulevard, according to a statement prepared by San Fernando Police Sgt. Ken Belden.
Diaz, another passenger and a driver occupied one of the cars, desk Officer Ray Hough said. A driver was the only occupant of the second car, Hough said.
Occupants of both vehicles were taken to local hospitals with various injuries, Belden said.
“The preliminary investigation indicates the fatal accident was alcohol-related,” according to a statement read by an officer. However, the statement provided no further details or identities.
The California Highway Patrol, which often investigates fatal accidents for San Fernando police, will investigate the accident. No arrests had been made, Hough said.
