El Camino and Harbor Accept Invitations to Bowl Games : Community colleges: The Warriors play San Bernardino and the Seahawks meet Orange Coast in Dec. 5 games.
The El Camino and Harbor College football teams have been invited to play in Dec. 5 bowl games.
El Camino (8-2) will meet San Bernardino (9-0-1) in the Southern California Bowl at Chaffey College in Alta Loma, and Harbor (7-3) will make its first bowl appearance in 10 years against Orange Coast (7-3) in the Western State/KSwiss Bowl at Harbor. It is the first time Harbor has hosted a bowl game.
El Camino earned a bowl invitation after rallying from a 28-17 halftime deficit to defeat Long Beach 37-28 Saturday night. The victory gave the Warriors a share of the Mission Conference’s Northern Division title with Mt. San Antonio. Both teams finished 3-1, but Mt. SAC earned an automatic bowl berth because it beat El Camino.
San Bernardino, ranked fourth in the state in last week’s JC Athletic Bureau poll, won the Foothill Conference title.
Harbor needed an 18-7 victory over Ventura on Saturday to earn its first bowl invitation since 1982, when the Seahawks lost to Santa Barbara, 38-20, in the Lions Mission Bowl. Harbor, which was 3-7 last year, finished the regular season with its first winning record since going 5-4 in 1986.
The Seahawks, in their fourth season under Coach Don Weems, tied for third in the Western State Conference’s Northern Division with a 6-3 record and had the fourth-best record in the 12-team conference.
Orange Coast finished second in the Central Division of the Mission Conference.
