Deon Thomas and Andy Kaufmann keyed a late rally that gave Illinois an 86-78 overtime victory over Dayton on Wednesday night in the first round of the Great Alaska Shootout.
The score was tied, 70-70, at the end of regulation. Thomas and Kaufmann each sank three field goals to give Illinois the lead.
Thomas led Illinois with 25 points and Kaufmann added 18.
In a game Thursday, Oregon defeated Alaska Anchorage, 96-73.
