Defending champions Anders Jarryd and John Fitzgerald scored a 7-5, 7-6 (7-4) victory over top-seeded Mark Woodforde and Todd Woodbridge in the ATP Tour World Doubles Championships at Johannesburg. There was only one service break in the match, when Woodbridge dropped the 11th game of the first set.
Second-seeded Jim Grabb and Richey Reneberg defeated No. 3 Rick Leach and Kelly Jones, 7-6 (7-2), 7-6 (7-5).
