Ruling on Nixon Papers
The news item was appropriately featured on the front page. Like grand theft, such news deserves front-page coverage.
It is hoped many other readers reacted, as did I, to yet another misdirected court decision with infinite incredulity and absolute abhorrence.
Here is a man, an ex-President and public servant, who escaped impeachment only by resigning. He was never prosecuted for illegal recording of conversations, among other crimes. Most other criminals who write lucrative memoirs at least have to do so from a jail cell.
Hopefully the lower court will reward a man who neither deserves or needs it an appropriate compensation--$1 (one dollar and no cents). Otherwise, the taxpayers will additionally contribute to Nixon’s “perks.”
