Unions to Vote on Sale of Pittsburgh Press: The Pittsburgh Post-Gazette has reached tentative agreements with the 10 unions representing Pittsburgh Press Co. employees, clearing the way for the Post-Gazette to buy the rival Press. Two of the unions agreed to the tentative pacts this week, while the other eight unions--including the Teamsters, whose strike has idled both papers for six months--reached the agreements last week. Members of the unions are expected to vote Sunday. The Post-Gazette hopes to resume publication by early January, but the sale must first be approved by the U.S. Justice Department’s antitrust division.
