Bundesbank Rejects Plea for Lower Interest Rates: Germany’s Central Bank ignored a plea from the economics minister for lower interest rates and left its main lending rates unchanged. The announcement by the policy-making Central Bank Council, meeting in Frankfurt, that the Lombard rate would remain 9.5% and the discount rate 8.25% had been expected.
