JUNIOR COLLEGE FOOTBALL ROUNDUP
Harbor 18, Ventura 7--The Seahawks outgained the host Pirates, 343-138, in a Western State Conference finale behind Ira Moreland with 173 yards rushing.
Ventura (2-8, 2-7 in WSC play, 2-3 in Northern Division play) played without quarterback Alan Sedacca, who sustained a knee injury last week against Compton. In his place, Charles Hicks completed five of 12 for 25 yards and threw two interceptions.
With Harbor stacking the line of scrimmage, the Ventura offense sputtered. Mike Gee gained 60 yards in 16 carries and Delon Smith gained 41 in 10 carries.
After falling behind, 6-0, the Pirates scored in the second quarter on a trick play. On third and 11 from the Harbor 11, Ventura ran a fumblerooski. Offensive lineman Chet Lindemann picked up the ball and ran untouched into the end zone to give Ventura a 7-6 lead.
But Harbor (7-3, 6-3, 2-3) regained the lead four minutes later when Moreland dashed 44 yards for a score.
