PRO FOOTBALL / DAILY REPORT : RAMS : Gary Put Fumbles Behind in a Hurry
Tailback Cleveland Gary had 110 yards rushing, 44 yards receiving and scored two touchdowns last Sunday in the Rams’ upset over the Dallas Cowboys.
Ram Coach Chuck Knox said he never doubted that Gary, second in the conference with 828 rushing yards, would bounce back from his three-fumble outing two Sundays ago in a loss to the Phoenix Cardinals.
Knox also made sure to mention Gary’s no-excuses session with reporters a week ago Monday as a sign of someone who wasn’t about to crack under pressure.
“I expected that because he’s come back every time this year when he’s faced some adversity,” Knox said.
Running back Robert Delpino, sidelined since Oct. 4 because of a sprained left knee, practiced with the team and said he should be ready to be activated for Sunday’s game against the San Francisco 49ers.
Left tackle Gerald Perry flew to Columbia, S.C., to be with his ailing mother, and his return is indefinite, Knox said. Robert Jenkins practiced in Perry’s spot.
The Rams announced that approximately 300 tickets remained unsold for Sunday’s game at Anaheim Stadium. If the game is sold out, as expected, by 1 p.m. today, the local blackout will be lifted.
