Changing Role for Engineers

Glass fails to understand that this country has not “lost its guts and vision,” or “lost the spirit of adventure that took us to the moon.” The only reason that engineers such as Glass were given an avenue to make their dreams a reality was the arms race. Rocket propulsion research was not given funding to carry men to the moon, but rather to carry nuclear warheads to a target on the Earth.

Now there is a dream of a clean environment and the electric car is not a “toy automobile for bloodless environmentalists,” but an invention that when utilized will help us make our new dream a reality.

We have not lost our vision of the future, but we can safely say that it has changed.
