Lockheed Wins $1.9-Billion Contract: A Lockheed Corp. division has won a Kennedy Space Center contract that could be worth up to $1.9 billion over 10 years, a company spokesman said. As base operations contractor at the Florida center, Lockheed Space Operations Co. will handle everything from firefighting, security and roads and grounds maintenance to running a health clinic and library. The four-year contract begins Jan. 1 and includes two three-year optional extensions.
