Screen Slashed: The screen of a movie theater in Seattle was slashed earlier this week and a new screen had to be shipped up in time for Wednesday evening’s opening of “Malcolm X.” There were no signs of forced entry and the incident was thought to be a case of random vandalism. Police described the 4-foot-high letter as an X, but a theater official said it seemed more like two slashes in the shape of a V. No special security measures were taken.
