Jordan’s King Faces More Cancer Tests
AMMAN, Jordan — King Hussein, telling his subjects that Jordan will live on after he is gone, said Thursday he will have to undergo more tests in the United States to confirm that he has been cured of cancer.
In an otherwise allegorical speech, his first since returning home in September from surgery that removed a kidney, the 56-year-old monarch addressed the issue of his health directly.
“I find it incumbent on me to tell you that I will have to travel, at intervals determined by my physicians and beginning shortly after a month from now, to the center where I was treated,” he said in an address to the nation. “This will be for the purpose of undergoing tests to confirm that I have--God willing--been cured.”
