Bakersfield 55, L.A. Valley 42--Bakersfield (5-1-1, 4-1-1, 2-0) scored 20 points in the fourth quarter to pull away in a WSC Southern Division game at Bakersfield. Valley fell to 3-3-1, 3-3, 0-2.

Valley’s Joe Mauldin tied the score, 35-35, with a 59-yard run with a minute left to play in the third quarter. Jermaine Davis ran 25 yards for a touchdown to give Bakersfield a 42-35 lead.

Mauldin rushed for 236 yards and two touchdowns in 21 carries. He completed 10 of 28 passes for 224 yards and two touchdowns with three interceptions. Howard Blackwell rushed for 104 yards and two touchdowns in 15 carries.

The game ended with a bench-clearing fight after Mauldin was sacked on fourth down with 25 seconds to play.
