Police Identify Shooting Victim
A woman who authorities believe was shot to death by her former boyfriend last week has been identified as Alejandrina Lopez, a 27-year-old Honduran national, police said Sunday.
Lopez’s body was discovered last Friday in a Van Nuys apartment in the 6800 block of Sepulveda Boulevard, Sgt. David Twitchell said. Lopez had reportedly been arguing with her former boyfriend, Jose Carmona of Los Angeles, shortly before.
Carmona was being sought in the killing and also is suspected of illegally ferrying Honduran immigrants into the country, Twitchell said. Police did not find Carmona, 32, in the downtown hotel where he was living, and Twitchell said he may have fled the country.
