BASEBALL DAILY REPORT : ANGELS : Salmon May Miss Series With A’s

Tim Salmon, who left Saturday night’s game because of a sore left wrist, is doubtful for the remaining three games of this home stand.

Precautionary X-rays were negative, but Manager Buck Rodgers said Salmon would have to show dramatic improvement by today to get back into the lineup in the series against the Oakland Athletics.

Salmon sustained the injury Aug. 28 while trying to check his swing on a Roger Clemens fastball. He said he re-injured it Saturday while trying to check a swing against Baltimore’s Mike Mussina.

Joe Grahe earned his 19th save in 20 chances by pitching two scoreless innings. As a reliever, his earned-run average is 0.77 (four earned runs in 46 2/3 innings).
