State troopers arrested Alabama wide receiver-kick returner David Palmer on a drunk-driving charge only hours after Coach Gene Stallings had benched him for the season opener against Vanderbilt because of a similar case.
Stallings held Palmer out of Saturday’s 25-8 victory as punishment for a June wreck that resulted in a drunk-driving charge.
In the latest incident, Palmer was charged with driving 75 m.p.h. in a 55-m.p.h. zone. His license will be suspended automatically for his initial refusal to take a blood-alcohol test. Palmer had a female passenger when he was stopped.
