Ohio State tailback Robert Smith won’t play Saturday against Bowling Green after suffering a cracked rib while returning a kickoff during Saturday’s 20-19 victory over Louisville.
Smith, a sophomore who set the Ohio State freshman rushing record in 1990 with 1,126 yards, was playing in his first game after sitting out last season in a dispute with coaches over what he said was the low priority they gave to academics.
