Aquarium-Goers to Get Passes
Visitors to the T. Wayland Vaughn aquarium today will receive a free pass admitting two children with a paid adult admission to the new Scripps Institution of Oceanography facility.
The passes will be valid from Oct. 1 to Dec. 1, 1992.
The old facility, in use for more than 40 years, will close its doors after Labor Day. On Sept. 16, Scripps will open the new Stephen Birch Aquarium-Museum at 2300 Expedition Way.
While the old facility charged a voluntary admission fee, the new one will charge $6.50 for adults, $5.50 for seniors (60 and older), $4.50 for students (13-18) and active-duty military, $3.50 for children (4-12), and children under 4 are free.
