INDEPENDENCE DAY: The Music Center will host two events in celebration of Mexican Independence Day today. The first is “Viva Los Artistas!,” an awards celebration and brunch honoring eight Latino artists and entertainers, from 10 a.m. until noon at the Dorothy Chandler Pavilion, Music Center, 135 N. Grand Ave. “Viva L.A!,” a free concert sponsored by the Music Center and radio stations KTNQ/KLVE, will run from noon until 5 p.m.
CITY BIRTHDAY: A celebration of the 211th birthday of Los Angeles will be held Monday at El Pueblo Historic Park, 845 N. Alameda St. Events begin with a 9.5 mile “Walk of the Pobladores” at 6 a.m. from San Gabriel Mission to the park.
