Authorities Investigate Borland Trade-Secrets Complaint: Law enforcement authorities in Santa Cruz County said they launched a criminal investigation of allegations that former Borland International executive Eugene Wang, who defected to rival Symantec Corp. on Tuesday, has illegally passed trade secrets to his new employer. Borland, a computer software company in Scotts Valley, filed a civil suit Thursday accusing Wang, Symantec and Symantec Chairman Gordon Eubanks of theft of trade secrets and breach of contract. Symantec said Borland’s actions were designed to intimidate a competitor. Wang was unavailable for comment.
